Impact of the Haitian Revolution

Tomorrow i’m giving a talk about the impact of the Haitian Revolution on Latin America. It’s difficult not to feel like an impostor, but it’s something that i’m passionate about, even as i lack any deep knowledge on the subject. The students in the class i’m lecturing in are reading Pirates of the Caribbean, Axis of Hope by Tariq Ali. I’m excited that i get to read the book at all, and tying the Haitian Revolution to present-day bolivarianism evolves quite naturally through all of the sources i’m using. Especially in light of Chavez’s support since the earthquake and his public accusations of US troops’ involvement.

Quick course on Latin American history and the U.S.’s involvement!
