13 Mar On writing about other places
I stumbled on a delightful (word choice?) piece by Ansel Adams about How to Write About Haiti. The comments at the end of the piece are really quite insightful and led to Binyavanga Wainaina’s piece in Granta, How to Write About Africa. I think these will be must-reads for students from now on. It’s a bit late for the final papers being turned in to day, but in future…
Hopefully, someone will write a How to Write About Poverty – especially in light of this latest “solution” (no really, the utter idiocy of the people who thought up this program is astoundingly jaw-dropping) brought to us all by SXSW.
