Join the RPN for Opening Plenaries with local activist and advocate Tim Harris, and scholar-activist Frances Fox-Piven at the University of Washington in Seattle. The plenary starts at 9:00 on October 10th at the Husky Union Building 250 (HUB 250).

Thematic discussions will create open spaces for conversation, story telling and listening. Themes might range from housing and homelessness to interpreting poverty policy to techniques and stories from organizing anti-poverty actions. Please suggest a topic you would like to discuss and/or volunteer to facilitate a session.

Lightning talks could be about a campaign, collaboration and/or research project. These sessions are ideal for sharing the scope, goals, outcomes and lessons from your project. These sessions will allow more people to engage a wider range of poverty work. To present a lightning-talk, please register and share your project, some keywords, and a brief description.

Papers will discuss case studies, methodologies and theoretical engagements with relational poverty research. Possible topics might include, but are not limited to:

social alliances in the face of vulnerability
new epistemologies of poverty knowledge
new actions in poverty research and policy
the political economic production of poverty
alternative poverty discourses
the construction of poor others and poor places
non-expert ways of knowing poverty
Global South perspectives on poverty research
methodologies of relational poverty studies
